Mission
ICHI COMMONS is launching a mutual assistance and co-creation platform where all stakeholders working to solve social issues can connect and support each other. Behind this initiative lies the problem of fragmentation between organizations and sectors that engage in activities for different purposes and means, resulting in an imbalance of resources across society.
Prior to founding ICHI COMMONS, I was involved in establishing a mechanism to provide investment and financing to those addressing social issues through social impact investing. During this time, I had the opportunity to connect with diverse individuals, including non-profit organizations and social enterprises working on the front lines of social issues throughout Japan, new business departments of large corporations aiming to launch new businesses with the goal of solving social issues, social ventures, funders who want to support the resolution of specific social or regional issues, local governments, and individuals who, while belonging to respective entities, also feel the need to promote the resolution of issues as individuals.
Through these many connections, I realized the imbalance of resources – human, material, financial, and informational. It became clear to me that it is difficult to understand who is doing what, where, and this lack of clarity is preventing the potential impact from being fully realized.
In order to address such challenges, ICHI COMMONS places social issues at the center and provides online and offline solutions that are beneficial to each user, maximizing the ripple effects on society as initiatives for solving social issues transcend the boundaries of individuals and organizations.
